The work You’ll Remember Me addresses the problem of domestic violence, psychological violence towards women and children and the importance of its prevention. The artist places almost transparent figures on the walls that are made out of the most commonly used sentences and phrases, that verbally introduce and accompany a violent act.
Ivana Smiljanić was born in Belgrade in 1980. She graduated in 2005 from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, where she completed her MA diploma in 2009. A visual artist, performer and dancer, she was a Serbian winner of the “Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos Award” in 2009 and the “Henkel.Art.Award 2011”. She lives in Belgrade, where she is active on the contemporary art scene from 1999 onwards.
