Jovan Čekic is an artist whose photographs conceal a philosophical point of view and a way of thinking that engages not only in what can be “seen”. The pairs of photographs, in monochrome and in colour, are the two modes, the binary opposition from which a new relationship and a new meaning blossom.

Jovan Čekić, born 1953 in Belgrade. Got his degree in philosophy from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. He has been exhibiting since 1975. Winner in the Nadežda Petrović memorial award and October Salon prize. He was editor for theory at the Moment magazine. Until 1997 he was the director and editor-in-chief of the visual culture magazine New Moment. In 1998 he published a book Cutting Chaos (Geopoetika). Editor of the Art Edition at the Geopoetika publishing house.
