Lana Vasiljević

Lana Vasiljević, LOOKALIKE, 2006, object (light box), 50x50x15cm

Lana Vasiljević’s Signposts have a hybrid form of traffic/advertising signs. They are models for future “signs” which are to be placed in public space.
In times when the determination of identity has become more and more difficult, this artist, by means of popular and well-known symbolic forms and signs, is giving a mark (i.e. brand) to feelings, and defining certain terms as striking for characteristic phenomena of our everyday life.
Lana Vasiljević, born 1973 in Belgrade. Received her BA and MA from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, the department of sculpture, in 1998. Has had six independent exhibitions and taken part in more than 20 group exhibitions locally and abroad (Belgrade, New York, Vienna, Paris, The Hague,...). Winner of the October Salon award in 1997 and the 2006 GRIFON award for visual identity.
