Nevena Popović

Attempt, 2011, aluminum, rubber, 87x112x3 cm

One of the most prominent representatives of the new generation of Belgrade sculpture, Popovic combines aluminum and rubber in her works, which she then integrates with digital photography. In a thus created dual structure, a newly created sculpted body, in this case the human body in motion, conceals some kind of transparent cage, which in many of her works the artist develops into a separate world. In all these sculptures, this inner part represents a kind of ‘power’, a hidden driving force, which examines the boundaries between the organic and the mechanical movement.
